Meet Lacey Severson

IT BEGAN WITH A CRAYON AND AN IDEA

Lacey Severson has been creating illustrations since her fingers were able to hold a crayon. She could be found clutching a Crayola, creating witches, monsters and mummies and the mysterious worlds they inhabited. While other children dreamt of being doctors and lawyers, Lacey imagined bringing her drawings to life as an illustrator and cartoonist.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Lacey longed to add color to the grey that filled so many of her days. After graduating from high school, she took the opportunity to expand her palette by traveling the globe, looking for different ways of expressing the human experience. With a notepad, watercolors and an eye for detail, she studied the ancient architecture of European villages and the vast landscapes of New Zealand’s wilderness.

These experiences allowed her to add depth to her characters and the worlds they inhabited. Returning home, she discovered a passion for not only illustrating her own stories, but also the stories of writers and artists in her creative community.

After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Media and Communications, she decided to follow her passion. With a grumpy puppy, a supportive husband and her wonderful daughter.

With vision of an artist and the eye of an illustrator, Lacey looks forward to not only working on her personal projects, but also assisting other individuals who are looking for an opportunity to make themselves known through their creative endeavors. Lacey is currently looking for opportunities to collaborate with others and would love to receive your submissions, ideas and thoughts for future projects together.
